Garter stitch seams
Garter stitch seams are worked by joining
the bars and connecting threads that occur in strict sequence. The
back and front of the rows alternate to form garter stitch [pic
16,17,18, 19,20].
16: (left) When joining garter stitch, the first
stitch is on the lower piece. This sets the match for the row
ridges.
17: (right) The second stitch.
18: Join the stitches in sequence matching rows on
alternate sides.
19: (left) The row ridges align perfectly.
20: (right) The edge of garter stitch shows the ladder
of connecting threads alternating from the front to the back of the
work.
